a few weeks ago there was an art show at school. ryely had two of her artworks chosen for the show. so we stopped by school to check it out. somehow we ended up not having any pics of the other piece because this mom had to chase after the little sis.

one of ryely’s pieces from the art show

ryely and river signing their names

leaving school and hanging outside in the playground

then we went home to ride our scooters in the driveway.

yes it’s true, you do see a mini blush brush in river’s hand. in the middle of riding her scooter out, she stops to look for her brush in her purse, pulls it out and proceeds to put on makeup while riding her scooter.

p.s i’m not even sure how my brush ended up in her bag to begin with!

one last birthday photo shoot and i’m done with the giant cupcakes. promise. i just couldn’t resist a good dress up photo shoot because we were so inspired by ryely’s left over birthday cake. it was decorated with little edible pearls all over.

so i thought we should do a Breakfast at Tiffany’s inspired photo shoot. we went all over the house looking for tiaras and accessories to put on these girls. we had such an awesome time playing around. ryder was feeling a bit left out but he did manage to get in a few pics.

ryely is wearing: dress – gap kids, lace gloves – claire’s, pearl necklace – crewcuts, chanel glasses borrowed from her auntie

parisian spa day birthday theme

i’m a virgo. this makes me a slightly borderline obsessive compulsive. so i have to post my blogs (while very behind) in chronological order according to my iphoto. i like things to be in the order in which they are supposed to go in. i may break out and post something out of order next but right now, the next post is ryely’s birthday party.

as promised, it was a parisian inspired salon spa day. we were lucky enough to have a party at my sister’s salon. this is ryely’s first non house party. she just turned 8 and wanted to have a fun girly party. no boys were invited. her brother ryder was the only boy that got to come.

the color scheme was pink, black and white. i made another giant cupcake cake for her birthday. we bought that mold and it seems to be quite a hit. i myself can not get over how freaking cute that giant cupcake turned out. we also made chanel inspired cupcakes, and decorated some cake pops. ryely got to help with all the decorating so she had lots of fun getting creative with all the different sprinkles etc. i even made the mini croissant sandwiches.

the only thing we bought were the french macarons from paul’s in georgetown. it was so yummy. love me some macarons. overpriced but worth it. but you know what i tell ryely – we should just go to paris and have real macarons.

and of course my poms. that’s never going out of style at any of my parties. expect to see poms for every occasion. i’m getting so good at making them. and they look so cute once you hang em up. i did buy the mini pom pom garlands. they sucked. never get those things. it takes too much time to get them all open. i also made the happy birthday bunting banner and the paris postcard banner. i have a collection of postcards from paris and just used mini clothespins to clip onto a black & white string. it was all very simple and easy to make. the rest of the decorative items were some bird cages that we already had. the big eiffel tower was from target for $17 and the smaller ones were purchase for a few bucks on sale at world market.

everything turned out great. we had such an awesome party. after all the girls got a mani/pedi, we had a serious dance party with a soul train line and also some breaking dancing. as you can see lots and lots of cupcakes and cake pops were consumed along with some italian sodas.

i couldn’t have done it without the help of all the aunties. they helped turn this kiddie party out and made it one for ryely to remember for years to come. she is still reeling in the aftermath of her party 4 weeks later.

p.s after viewing all the pics, i realized that ryely did not have any pics in her complete birthday outfit. in her excitement once we got to the salon she took off her stella mccartney blazer. so she did have on a semi parisian inspired outfit of black sequin shorts, tank under a black blazer with a statement necklace to complete the ensemble. but not one picture to prove it. oh well.

maybe i’ll do a birthday outfit redo photo shoot.

i am still slowly trying to play catch up blogging. i got home from my mini girl’s getaway to miami and felt like i needed another vacation from the vacation. not that we did anything but lay on the beach all day long and drink and eat but i was still tired.

here are the twins at the playground.
