parisian themed birthday party

my mind has literally been in paris lately. it started with my craving for a real french croissant and my discontentment of our store bought croissants. i guess you can say ryely started it. she loves croissants and wanted them for school. we get em and they are never great, just barely passing.

so i always tell her “one day mommy is going to take you to paris so that we can have a real french croissant.”

well it just so happens that i recently blogged about henri matisse – a french artist and alexander calder, an american artist that used to live in paris. i started to reminiscence about my trips there after looking at calder’s work. click here to read about that.

so it’s been decided that ryely’s birthday will be a parisan inspired spa day extravaganza. i’ve already gotten mini eiffel tower sculptures, paris inspired cupcake holders and decorations. we’re making pink, black and white pom poms. it’s going to be awesome.

our original inspiration (we will be serving mini croissant sandwiches)

along with some french macarons

isn’t this eiffel tower cake just gorgeous?

well i won’t be making this. that’s just too ambitious for me to take on. just admiring the details.

we’re going to make the poms poms you see here in black, white and bright pink.¬†all these images were found on pinterest

Diane von Furstenberg is collaborating with gap to design a line of clothes for your minis. As you know, DVF is known for her wrap dresses. Sizes are infant to 12 and will hit stores March 15th.

The last designer to do a collabo with Gap was Stella McCartney. We loved all the Stella for Gap clothes we have. So I’m hoping we can score a few wrap dresses for the girls. Here is a sneak peak at the DVF for Gap lookbook.

ryely had a valentine’s day class party so i stopped by and snapped a few pics. i’m using snapbucket with my iphone. it has this hearts effect that was oh so appropriate for the occasion. love my photo apps.

our pics from yesterday. the kiddies in all their valentine’s day glory.

the day did not end up as nicely as i planned. the hubs’ prized possession and 4th baby – his triumph bonneville motorcycle was hit by a car while it was parked outside of work. someone hit the bike and didn’t leave a note. so there were no flowers for the momma on valentine’s day. (which i think is totally overrated anyway) ¬†just some tears and a bottle of wine for this sad husband. today it got towed to the shop. hopefully we will get it back soon.

on a brighter note, the kids loved their giant heart shaped short bread cookies that i got from whole foods. every year i get a singing stuffed animal from the hubs and now we get em for all the kids so they loved their presents. we got ryely a feather hair clip, feather earrings, and that paper weight thing that says ‘i love you’ she loved it all!

hugs and kisses from us
